Lobbying and Subvention Institutions
There are two parts to the EU Affairs Management course:
1) The first provides a guide to how best lobby the EU institutions to obtain a favourable political decision. The objectives are to develop a theoretical and practical understanding of how to lobby the EU (and, by implication, any other public service organisation), and to demonstrate presentational and writing skills in the context of a lobbying case study.
2) The second explains how to obtain funding from the EU for a particular project. The objectives here are to provide a detailed understanding of the main funding mechanisms available in the EU, and to outline how to set about obtaining financial support from the EU for a project.
The approach adopted for both of these parts is to provide a practical, hands-on guide to managing business within the context of the EU and Brussels', drawing on contemporary business examples.
In this way, students will understand how the EU Institutions work in practice and will be equiped with a series of tools to interact successfully with the EU, its institutions and officials in a business context.
