After living in Italy for 6 years- and in that time obtaining a diploma in the Italian Language and Culture; a BA Honours degree in Communication and Media from The European School of Economics, with a specialisation in Marketing and Promotion; and one year's working experience in Marketing - I felt I was ready for the challenge of obtaining a masters degree in Management or Business in order to enhance my business skills. I wanted to stay in Europe and study at a reputable institution in the English language. But I specifically wanted to be in a French speaking country so that I could improve my French and thus be proficient in at least 3 European languages. Moreover, I did not want to study for more than one year and the institution had to offer me an environment where I would not only expand my academic knowledge and improve my professional skills, but where I would be stimulated culturally in an international environment. After a lot of research, EDHEC came up first on my list and I was thrilled to be accepted for the MSc in European Business programme!

Since arriving here I discovered that the information I got about EDHEC was not just marketing, and that it is even better in real life. Many business schools academically prepare students well for international careers but EDHEC distinguishes itself through a first class pragmatic approach. Its education gives graduates the necessary theoretical academic knowledge, strong practical professional skills and essential cultural preparation and confidence that create managers, entrepreneurs and leaders out of graduates. EDHEC offers an international faculty that are experts in their fields and keep us on our toes! The classes are highly stimulating and interactive. Challenging group work often creates competition amongst groups, improving our team-skills. Individual assessment keeps us competitive as individuals and allows us to assess our own learning curves. The M.Sc. program lasts only a year, which makes it very intensive.  I feel all this prepares us well for real life and for a successful international career, because we learn to always work on multiple tasks and the deadlines teach us to move at a fast pace. Cultural awareness or intelligence is becoming increasingly important as the world evolves, and the large number of nationalities at EDHEC means that you are always, consciously and subconsciously, learning about new cultures in and out of class (I'm even taking Chinese cooking lessons!).

The positive EDHEC staff also deserves mentioning!  At EDHEC I am not a statistic, i.e., student number 525 or whatever, doing MSc EB. I am Nyasha, from Zimbabwe, and an important part of the MSc in European Business programme. Each of my classmates feel the same way about this, and this individual approach means that EDHEC can cater to our specific needs. For example, the fantastic staff members of the Internship and Career Development Centre are more like mentors who help each student design their career path as individuals, with different dreams and capabilities. Continuous performance testing helps us to recognise our individuality, personality, talents and capabilities and thus our own competitive advantage. A one-on-one relationship with lecturers fosters the development of our individual qualities and allows us to focus on any weak points. This gives us the security and assurance that we are in the right place.

However, just work and no play make for an incomplete education! The array of events organised by the student associations and the city of Nice keep our social lives busy! EDHEC's location in Nice means that we are surrounded by cultural and tourist activities, concerts, museums, etc. For those who love travelling, most airlines offer cheap flights to major European cities, which are only a couple of hours away. The cherry on the EDHEC cake is the fantastic weather and the beauty of the French Riviera.

I know I made the right choice by choosing EDHEC! I am confident of the high quality academic knowledge, and the vital professional and personal skills I'm acquiring through the EDHEC M.Sc. programme. My dream is to be able to represent my country in an international context and build a career in the field of International Development and Aid.
